Behavioural Consultations
A dog's life can be confusing, fitting in with an owners family life and routine can sometimes be stressful and lead to undesirable behaviours. Similarly despite our best efforts our dogs can occasionally be exposed to situations for which they are unprepared which again can give rise to problematic behaviours. These behaviours are best addressed early to prevent them becoming a habit or escalating.
Problem behaviours may include:
Boisterousness
Nipping
Your dog jumping all over you
Toilet Training
Excessive Barking
Excessive Digging
Chewing
Separation Anxiety
Aggression or over excitement on the lead
A behavioural consultation from Family Dog Services will look at your dogs behaviour and taking a holistic approach will look at the root cause and symptoms then we'll create a plan to address the unwanted behaviours. The consultation typically takes between 2 and 4 hours at your home (unless there is a specific need that requires an assessment at a different location), preparation of a full report and training plan, coupled with ongoing support.

1-2-1 Sessions
1-2-1 Lessons
Private 1-2-1 lessons can be arranged to assist with your training and are a great way to address specific training concerns that you may have. Available for obedience or gundog training.
Up to 45 minute lessons for puppies up to 5 month old - £30
1hr lessons for dogs over 5 months old - £45
Group Obedience Lessons
We currently run all of our regular training classes outdoors in our training fields in Loose (just outside Maidstone).
The number of places in classes is limited to ensure we can provide a quality training environment so early registration is advised.
Dates/Times:
Running all year on Friday and Saturday mornings at 10am, with Monday and Friday evening group lessons from April to September

6 Week Puppy Foundation Courses
For puppies up to 6 months old. Throughout the course you will also have access to our online training lesson videos, these are packed with information to support training between your classes. This will include the digital version of our best selling loose lead walking and recall training DVD
6 Week Dog School Course
For Dogs 6months to 1year old. The class will include exercises like: Loose Lead Walking, Recall, Sit, Stand, Down, Stays, Don't Jump Up, Leave, and other important skills. (exercises may vary and will depend on dogs age and experience)
Gundog Classes
(suitable for pets, working dogs or competition dogs)
Fortnightly classes running on Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am
1 - 2 hour class depending on number of dogs in class.
We limit the number of dogs in a class so there is a pre booking scheme.
(exercises may vary and will depend on dogs age and experience)
There are 8 classes in the beginner, novice, intermediate and advanced courses, each is £220.
Courses progress through Beginner, Novice, Intermediate, Advanced and Working level.
This course includes access to private member space for support between sessions.
Gundog Training
Our gundog training is fun and educational. Classes run fortnightly to give plenty of time to practice what is being learnt between classes
Our gundog training is ideal for anyone who owns a gundog breed who would like to learn how to get the best out of their dog, as well as for those who wish to work their gundog.
If you would like additional training between these sessions we can arrange 1-2-1s or small bespoke group lessons if there are specific exercises you would like assistance or additional coaching/help with. These can be arranged weekdays, evenings or on weekends subject to availability. Early booking is advisable.
We take age appropriate training very seriously and the exercises are run and planned around the dogs ages and abilities to prevent damage to young dogs joints and growth plates.
These classes are part of a progressive program starting with our gundog basic course, aimed to bring out the best in your dog whilst building the foundations of gundog training. Each level is essentially a 8-10 class development program (running with fortnightly sessions)
There is a short de brief at the end of the class where we will recap the exercises and how you should continue at home.
We also have a private group on Facebook for those attending our gundog training, the reason this is private is so that our clients can post photos/videos/questions on the page for us to help with any problems you may be having, or, equally to celebrate your successes!
Puppy Consultation
Just purchased a puppy and want some guidance? We also offer a puppy specific consultation providing training advice, guidance on avoiding common problems and answers to any questions you may have. The puppy consultation is ideal for puppies under 4 months old and includes up to 2 hours practical consultation, preparation of a full report and training plan, coupled with ongoing support and a digital download of our Loose Lead Walking and Recall Training DVD.
Consultation fee - £100
